Good morning, everyone!

Last night, I watched the fiery finale of Season 1 of MobLand, which is absolutely worth subscribing to Paramount+ to enjoy, especially if you’re an Emmy voter. I love what Tom Hardy is doing in this show, and Pierce Brosnan and Paddy Considine get some choice moments in the season finale, so don’t miss it!

As I make my way through Joseph Wambaugh’s true-crime book Fire Lover before diving into Vol. 12 of Saga, I have a confession to make. Last night, I ordered a bunch of books on Amazon. My recreational funds may be limited, but I’ve never felt bad about spending money on books. They may not be a smart investment, but the price is minimal compared to the rewards.

My latest haul included hardcover editions of Thomas HarrisRed Dragon and The Silence of the Lambs, and a cheapo paperback copy of Bret Easton EllisAmerican Psycho, as that hardcover was going for nearly $300! Too rich for my blood.

I also bought a couple of books by FBI profiler Robert K. Ressler, Acting Class by Nick Drnaso, and Matt Fraction’s comic book Sex Criminals: The Complete Edition, which I’ve heard great things about for years but have long resisted.

Those titles should take me through the summer, and maybe even TIFF.

Today, you’ll read some hot casting rumors pertaining to The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event.

There are also items about Daniel Craig teaming up with Damien Chazelle, Kaia Gerber joining forces with Ryan Murphy, Greta Gerwig casting Carey Mulligan in Narnia, Eva Longoria’s next directorial effort, a new Josephine Baker biopic, a reboot of 7th Heaven, a new home for Sesame Street, casting additions to the Hunger Games prequel and the latest Toy Story sequel, and a “reimagining” of Strangers on a Train, as well as my take on the trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites and a tribute to the late George Wendt.
