I’m working on a full newsletter for later this evening, but I owed you one from last night, so here it is.
On Friday night, I saw — and loved — the new Final Destination movie, which posted a franchise-best opening of $51 million at the domestic box office. The movie replicated that figure overseas, and while a sharp drop at the box office is expected this weekend due to #MissionStitch (my new #Barbenheimer), word of mouth may have a thing or two to say about that…
On Saturday, I celebrated the 50th birthday of my former Meet the Movie Press co-host Mark Reilly, which featured a hilarious video cobbled together by talented editor Rachel Cushing Levine, who is available for all your editing needs.
And on Sunday, I fulfilled my humble role as a Patron of the Arts by attending the Beverly Hills Art Show following a quick nosh at Beverly Hills Bagel. Later that night, I began binge-watching the new Jessica Biel-Elizabeth Banks series The Better Sister, which hits Prime Video on May 29, though it remains under embargo for now.
Today, I’ve got a hot casting scoop for The Backrooms movie from A24 and producers Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) and James Wan (Aquaman).
