Exclusive: Ben Whishaw in Talks to Join Kit Connor in Alex Garland’s 'Elden Ring' Movie at A24

Plus, Shawn Levy's reboot of 'Night at the Museum,' my thoughts on 'The Running Man' trailer, and why I may be the perfect writer to tackle Season 4 of 'Monster' on Netflix.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! This week is kind of flying by, isn’t it?

Last night, I had dinner with a bright young person working in our wonderful industry, and it was refreshing to chat at length with someone so full of hope and optimism, as so many folks my age have become jaded by the industry’s ongoing contraction.

Tonight, I’m off to see Sorry, Baby before I offer my list of the Top 10 Movies from the First Half of 2025, which I’m planning to post tomorrow night before I see James Gunn’s Superman. I’m excited to finally see the launch of the new DCU, though I’ve been warned to temper my expectations.

Before we begin, a quick apology to producer Ross Putman for misspelling his last name in last night’s scoop about A Bobby Thing. Won’t happen again!

Tonight, you’ll read about the latest addition to Alex Garland’s Elden Ring movie at A24, as well as the Season 4 subject of Netflix’s hit anthology series Monster, and why I’m the perfect staff writer for the show this time — no joke.

I know it takes a lot of hubris to even suggest that possibility, but this is the moment I’ve been waiting for, and closed mouths don’t get fed, so it’s best to shoot your shot where and when you can. Let’s hope EPs Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan are paying attention.

There are also items about Shawn Levy’s Night at the Museum reboot, Nate Bargatze’s new comedy, the directorial debuts of Past Lives star Greta Lee and promising filmmaker Tyler-Marie Evans, the possible return of Tehran to Apple TV+, the cancellation of Duster on HBO Max, which has ordered another another Big Bang Theory spinoff, Chandler Levack’s follow-up to I Like Movies, and my thoughts on Paramount’s trailer for Edgar Wright’s adaptation of The Running Man starring Glen Powell.
