Lionsgate's Michael Jackson Movie Looks Like a Huge Hit and a Potential Awards Contender

Plus, Mark Wahlberg goes bald, Keanu Reeves grows wings, and Halle Berry connects with her kids... literally.

Good evening, everyone! It’s still Wednesday, isn’t it? Sorry for asking, but when you’re in a casino for four days, you start to lose track of time.

Today at CinemaCon, Lionsgate and Universal presented their 2024/2025 slates, and each studio hosted a private shindig afterward. Both events were off the record, but I got a little face time with Lionsgate boss Adam Fogelson, which was nice.

Tonight, I’m getting an early look at Pamela Adlon’s Neon comedy Babes, which stars Ilana Glazer and Michelle Buteau. I haven’t seen too many comedy trailers over the past three days, so I welcome the laughs.

Tomorrow is the final day of CinemaCon, which brings presentations from Paramount and Disney, as well as a luncheon with some guy by the name of Martin Scorsese.

In addition to Lionsgate’s CinemaCon report card, tonight’s newsletter features stories about Nia DaCosta directing Sony’s sequel to 28 Years Later, Ice Spice joining the cast of Spike Lee’s new movie, Tim Kring pitching a new Heroes series, Heather Locklear returning for Melrose Place revival, comedian Tom Segura’s new Netflix series, and Blumhouse’s trailer for its Speak No Evil remake.
