Emmy Hopes & Predictions; Plus, a Pair of TV Scoops About Netflix & Disney+
Find out who is joining Netflix's live-action 'Scooby-Doo' series, and the new project that the showrunners of 'Gotham Knights' are developing for Disney's streamer.

Happy Thursday, folks!
Last night, I made a last-minute decision to see Anthony Jeselnik perform at the Saban Theatre with a few buddies who already had tickets, and while it was an expensive decision, I don’t regret it whatsoever, as it’s hard to put a price on an evening that ends with your cheeks hurting from laughing so hard.
Megan Gailey and Sarah Tiana did a great job opening for Jeselnik, who spent roughly an hour delivering 65 killer jokes, which he said he chose from nearly 1300 options. Jeselnik remains the undisputed king of the dark joke, and if you guys had read last night’s post about Netflix Is a Joke Fest, you could’ve joined the raucous party, where nothing was off limits, from jokes about incest and molestation to racism and misogyny. Each one of them absolutely slayed and brought the house down, trust me.
Tonight, I’m off to see Sam Morril and Joe List — frankly, Netflix should be throwing tickets at me — so wish me luck, as that show will end around midnight in downtown L.A., which is always a fun place to be after dark, ha!
Tonight, I’ve got a scoop about a new live-action YA series in the works at Disney, and a casting scoop about Netflix’s live-action Scooby-Doo series. I also offer up my hopes, dreams, and predictions for this year’s Emmys race, and a look at the trailer for Tatiana Maslany’s new Apple TV series Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, which is poised to surprise later this month.
