Exclusive: 'The Perfect Couple's Eve Hewson Boarding Steven Spielberg’s Untitled UFO Movie

The Irish actress is reuniting with the director after playing Tom Hanks' daughter in 'Bridge of Spies.'

Yes, it’s Saturday, but the news doesn’t stop just because it’s the weekend, am I right? This is a 24/7 business, baby!

Now, I normally put my scoops behind a paywall, but I’m not doing that this time, as I’m hoping to entice some of you unpaid subscribers (and you know who you are) to take the leap with me and sign up for a paid subscription.

I truly believe my juice is worth the squeeze, and if it wasn’t, I don’t think I could stomach lying to you. The truth is, I’m a bargain for the price, and if you need a discount (need, not want), just let me know. I’m happy to work with you, especially if you’re an intern or an assistant in this business.

The fact is that I’m cheaper than other newsletters, I publish more often than them, I break more news than them, and frankly, I’m just a more entertaining read in general. Oh, and I actually love movies and watch them non-stop, which gives me a leg up on the competition.

So, whether you’re a paid or unpaid subscriber, know that I truly appreciate you, and please keep reading to find out the latest addition to the cast of Steven Spielberg’s next movie. Exclusive: The Perfect Couple Star Eve Hewson Boarding Steven Spielberg’s Untitled UFO Movie

Eve Hewson is all grown up since her Bridge of Spies days…

Rising star Eve Hewson, who can currently be seen in Netflix’s buzzy limited series The Perfect Couple, is in early talks to board the top-secret UFO movie that Steven Spielberg is directing for Universal Pictures.

Should a deal close, the currently untitled film would serve as a reunion between Spielberg and Hewson, who played Tom Hanks’ daughter in the director’s 2015 movie Bridge of Spies.

Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, and Oscar winner Colin Firth are set to star in the movie, which was written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park) based on a story by Spielberg himself.

Plot details remain under wraps, as does Hewson’s role, but clearly, the Oscar-winning director is assembling a very talented ensemble here.

Kristie Macosko Krieger is producing for Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment banner, and Universal will see to it that the UFO film flies into theaters on May 15, 2026.

Spielberg is the highest-grossing director of all time, and he hasn’t had a live-action movie arrive during the prime summer months since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull back in 2008, so there’s some real excitement around this new untitled project.

Best known for her starring turns in Steven Soderbergh’s series The Knick, Hewson also starred in the twisty Netflix series Behind Her Eyes.

The Irish actress is also becoming a favorite at Apple, where she starred in the series Bad Sisters — she’ll be back for Season 2, which returns in November — and played the title character in last year’s excellent film Flora and Son. That’s where Hewson made a fan out of me, as I was hugely impressed by her fiery yet soulful performance as a single mother in John Carney’s musical drama, which the streamer acquired after it earned rave reviews at Sundance.

Hewson currently plays the bride-to-be in The Perfect Couple, which has been the most-watched series on Netflix all weekend. The beachside murder mystery stars Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning, Jack Reynor, Billy Howle, Meghann Fahy, Sam Nivola, and Ishaan Khattar.

She has also wrapped Noah Baumbach’s upcoming Netflix movie, which boasts an A-list ensemble that includes George Clooney, Adam Sandler, and the director’s wife, Greta Gerwig.

Hewson just signed on to star opposite Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) in the Hulu comedy pilot Downforce, which is set in the world of Formula One. She’s represented by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Narrative PR, and the law firm of Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
