Golden Globes Predictions: Timothée Chalamet Is Building a Case Against Adrien Brody - 'For Your Consideration'

Scott Mantz, Perri Nemiroff, and I discuss Sunday night's ceremony and whether the big blockbuster ('Wicked') will prevail over indies such as 'Anora' and 'The Substance.'

Tonight, on an all-new episode of For Your Consideration — Hollywood’s #1 awards-themed talk show — Scott Mantz, Perri Nemiroff and I offer our predictions for the Golden Globes, which apparently air on Sunday night. Who knew?

To be clear, I think the Golden Globes are a ridiculous awards show voted on by a group of unserious international voters of questionable integrity, but hey, whatever floats your boat. I know everyone is just trying to make a quick buck off this tired brand, and really, what’s the harm in that?

I offered up my Globe predictions because I’m a team player who would never let my FYC co-hosts down, but let’s just say that I didn’t take the show seriously enough to bother offering a full set of predictions for the Gate Crashers. You should, however, head over there by all means if you’re curious about what’s what and want a second opinion after this episode.

Scott, Perri, and I were fairly torn on a number of races, including Best Director (which is still wide open) and Best Actor in a Drama, where Adrien Brody (The Brutalist) is trying to hold off Bob Dylan — I mean Timothée Chalamet!

Sorry, it’s easy to confuse those two…

There’s also a question in the supporting actor race, where A Real Pain star Kieran Culkin appears to be the favorite, though Edward Norton’s warm turn as Pete Seeger in A Complete Unknown may prove to be too hard for voters to resist.

We didn’t have time to get to the TV side of the Golden Globes, but our thoughtful discussion about the movie categories should be enough to tide you over until the ceremony.

Sunday night’s winners will, of course, be auditioning their own acceptance speeches, hoping to repeat them again on Oscar night, but regardless of the awards show, passion is the name of the game at this point of the season. Does the big-budget Wicked have more passion behind it than Anora, the little indie that could? We’ll see…

If you’d like to advertise with FYC in Phase 2, please contact me, as hundreds of awards voters subscribe to this newsletter, plus, our collective reach across social media is fairly significant, and we tape on a weekly basis.

Thank you for watching For Your Consideration, and feel free to leave a comment on Perri’s YouTube channel, as we welcome constructive feedback from all FYC fans. I may even feature select comments in this newsletter — especially if they’re from the Hollywood community, which is also welcome to email me.

Watch the latest episode above, and until next time — when we weigh in on the SAG Award nominations — we'll FYC-ya later!
