Exclusive: Netflix Won't Release Halle Berry's Sci-Fi Movie 'The Mothership'

Happy Tuesday, everyone! It’s my favorite day of the year — Oscar nomination day, when we see which movies Hollywood truly cares about, and which ones it does not.

I’ll break down the Oscar nominations below, so keep reading for more, but I was disappointed that the “snub” of Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie — both of whom were nominated elsewhere, mind you — in the Best Director and Best Actress categories received the lion’s share of attention from the press and social media.

I hate that the “snubs” have become more newsworthy than the “surprises,” but hey, that’s the media for you. Believe me, the Academy didn’t “miss the point” of Barbie… Hollywood heard it loud and clear a couple years ago, which is why the Best Actress race was so crowded this year that Robbie wasn’t even nominated — people started writing women the great roles they deserved, and this year, there were so many that even the star of a giant hit like Barbie didn’t make the cut.

So yeah, instead of focusing on the “snub” of two women who were nominated for Oscars in other categories, I’d rather congratulate Nyad stars Annette Bening and Jodie Foster for navigating choppy waters this season, as well as American Fiction’s Sterling K. Brown, who held off some stiff competition for a supporting actor nod. All three nominations are well-deserved.
