Exclusive: Jaalen Best to Play Muhammad Ali in Michael B. Jordan’s Amazon Series 'The Greatest'

Well, it’s Friday night in Los Angeles, and to be honest, I debated sending this newsletter tonight, as all of “Film Twitter” is currently mourning Scott Wampler, the veteran movie blogger who co-hosted the popular podcast The Kingcast with my old AICN mate Eric Vespe.

Wampler may have had me blocked on Twitter — such was his right — but tonight I found that I hadn’t actually blocked him back, as I happened to be a big fan of his writing. He always knew his stuff and had a wicked sense of humor that came across in his frequent posts, so as a writer, he had my respect.

I never met Wampler, and I’ll never know which of my insane tweets was the one that broke the camel’s back for him, but I’m terribly sorry about his untimely passing, which is truly sad. My heart goes out to his friends, family, and the many colleagues across the industry spectrum who remembered him on Twitter and beyond. I can only hope to garner such an outpouring of emotion and genuine positivity when my own time comes.

Tonight’s newsletter, which I (obviously) decided to send if only to dedicate it to Scott, features a hot scoop about Amazon MGM’s Muhammad Ali series, my thoughts on all the Marvel “news” that broke this week, the latest additions to the Knives Out and Jurassic World franchises, a story about Kevin James playing John Daly, and my thoughts on the trailer for Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron’s steamy new Netflix movie.
