David Leitch to Direct Next 'Jurassic' Movie for Universal; Plus, an Old Story About Legendary

Also, the Comedy Corner returns to celebrate Shane Gillis being tapped to host 'Saturday Night Live.'

Happy Monday, fam! A quick publishing advisory this week — I’m planning to publish three editions this week, as I am turning 40 YEARS OLD on Saturday and my family is flying out to hang with me in Joshua Tree before spending a couple of nights here in sunny(???) Los Angeles.

Not to go all Jerry Seinfeld on you, but seriously, what’s the deal with this weather? I pay L.A. rent for L.A. living and this rain is cramping my style. Jeff is getting upset! And why can’t anyone drive in the rain here? It’s bizarre…

Anyway, you’ll get another newsletter tomorrow night, and we’ll see if I can get one out on Friday, but Wednesday and Thursday are unlikely to arrive barring major breaking news, or some kind of juicy exclusive. Thanks for understanding…

In tonight’s edition, you’ll read about David Leitch, Thomas Tull, Will Smith, Michelle Pfeiffer, Matthew McConaughey, Kevin Costner, Taylor Sheridan, America Ferrera, Margot Robbie, Shane Gillis, Dave Chappelle, and King Charles.

I feel weird calling it the Jurassic World franchise and not the Jurassic Park franchise, but I digress.

Deadline broke the news, but honestly, I should’ve seen this coming. The answer was so obvious, it was right in front of me, but I failed to see it. Shame on me.

The truth is that I’d heard another filmmaker’s name come up for this project a week or two ago…
