Happy Friday, folks!
Today, there’s a brand new episode of For Your Consideration, in which I discuss the Best Director category with my co-hosts Scott Mantz and Perri Nemiroff. Last night, I was glued to the Rams-Seahawks game — that 2-point conversion was nuts — though it’s worth noting that James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash opened in theaters, where the 195-minute movie is tracking to open north of $350 million worldwide. My full review is in the works, but in short, never bet against Cameron.
Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme is also heading towards a good opening next week, with A24 touting strong presales following a buzzy marketing campaign.
Today’s top story is a cool casting scoop about the next Martin Scorsese movie. There are also items about Sony’s Labubu movie, the latest performer to exit SNL, and Johnny Depp’s new co-stars. Plus, a look at the teaser trailer for DC’s Supergirl movie starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El.
