Exclusive: Mads Mikkelsen in Talks to Join Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s 'What Happens at Night'
Plus, Sony’s 'Labubu' movie lands a strong director, 'SNL' loses another high-profile performer, Johnny Depp gets new co-stars, and the teaser for DC's 'Supergirl' movie.

Happy Friday, folks!
Today, there’s a brand new episode of For Your Consideration, in which I discuss the Best Director category with my co-hosts Scott Mantz and Perri Nemiroff. And in case you missed it, I got choked up talking about Rob Reiner’s passing on yesterday’s episode of The Hot Mic, as did my co-host, John Rocha. I promise that a longer Reiner tribute is coming soon — I’ve just been wrestling with it all week. Understandably, I hope…
Last night, I was glued to the Rams-Seahawks game — that 2-point conversion was nuts — though it’s worth noting that James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash opened in theaters, where the 195-minute movie is tracking to open north of $350 million worldwide. My full review is in the works, but in short, never bet against Cameron.
Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme is also heading towards a good opening next week, with A24 touting strong presales following a buzzy marketing campaign.
Today’s top story is a cool casting scoop about the next Martin Scorsese movie. There are also items about Sony’s Labubu movie, the latest performer to exit SNL, and Johnny Depp’s new co-stars. Plus, a look at the teaser trailer for DC’s Supergirl movie starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El.
