'Spider-Man 4': The Top 10 Directors Marvel Should Consider, From the 'Bad Boys' Duo to Mr. 'Twister'

Plus, Steve Carell heads to HBO, and I offer my thoughts on 'The Strangers: Chapter 1,' 'Back to Black,' and Shane Gillis' 'Tires.'

Happy Monday, folks!

It has been a day over here, as I continue to be harassed and defamed by my former boss Patrick Graham, the scumbag publisher of the defunct news website Below the Line, but hey, that’s just a day in the life of a rock star entertainment journalist.

Because I had to spend so much time today dealing with Patrick’s truly endless bullshit, I was forced to decide between sending tonight’s newsletter on time and making the 45-minute drive to Burbank to see Furiosa, and I chose you guys over the screening.

See, I’ve been in a little funk lately, and the only way out is to write my way out — not watch my way out. I gotta get my mojo back, so I’ll step it up on my end.

In tonight’s newsletter, you’ll read my thoughts on who could realistically direct Spider-Man 4, as well as brief reviews of The Strangers: Chapter 1, the Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black, and Shane Gillis’ new Netflix series Tires. You’ll also read about Steve Carell’s new HBO series and when you’ll be able to see new Lionsgate movies starring Mark Wahlberg, Dave Bautista, and Gerard Butler as well as the Christopher Reeve documentary Super/Man.
