Studio Mandates 2026 — Disney, 20th Century, Searchlight, and Lucasfilm: Female Thrillers, a Zendaya Crime Movie, and No More Replica Remakes?
The Mouse House is known as a treasure trove of IP, but after 'The Mandalorian & Grogu,' expect to see more originals out of the studio in response to the current craze.

Good afternoon, West Coast, and good evening to those on the East Coast.
Last week, I received a 19-page document listing Studio Mandates for this summer, and there was some pretty interesting info in the document, which I have decided to share in its entirety over the next several days.
Now, I want to be clear that I’m presenting these entries pretty much exactly how they are in the document, with a few formatting and content tweaks.
For example, there was a really juicy nugget in this external document about future TV plans for Star Wars, but, after checking in with insiders, I learned it was inaccurate, so I pulled it, as there’s no point in getting you nerds excited about something that, in all likelihood, isn’t going to happen.
Keep in mind that I’m not necessarily “reporting” any of this stuff, I’m merely “sharing” it. I offer my own analysis after, as well as some creative pitches that studio execs and producers should really consider. I know… my ego knows no bounds.
I don’t know which studios I’ll be writing about next, but I do know that if you’re a studio publicist who’s nervous about this document that’s making the rounds, give me a call, and I’m happy to discuss your studio’s real mandates, whatever they may be.
Those publicists who aren’t subscribed to this newsletter may pay the price for their foolish decision.
Today, I focus on Disney, 20th Century Studios, Searchlight Pictures, and Lucasfilm.
