Happy Tuesday, folks! I hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend and walked away from your fantasy football drafts satisfied.
It was a crazy weekend for yours truly, who lost nearly 900 followers on Twitter in the dumbest “controversy” of all time before gaining most of them back in a wild, well-timed twist after the Telluride Film Festival revealed Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, You Can See Everything, as its secret screening.
The reviews have been ecstatic, and I hope A24 will still have me at an upcoming screening after the dumb stunt I pulled this weekend.
Regardless, it’s true that this tiny, little newsletter that has zero advertising, even though everyone in town reads it, was the only outlet in the world to report on this top-secret project, which I first announced way back in March 2025.
Call me crazy, folks… just call me good, too.
And kudos to Fielder and Oppenheim for keeping this pretty quiet otherwise. A24 did a great job of surprising festgoers, and the studio could wind up making history for its troubles, as there’s buzz that You Can See Everything could become the first documentary nominated for Best Picture.
A24 has a stacked slate this fall, so we’ll see if one film emerges from the pack, though Jesse Eisenberg’s The Debut seems poised to be the chosen one. We’ll see…
You Can See Everything Wasn’t the Only awards contender to drop a teaser this weekend, as we also caught our first glimpse of Luca Guadagnino’s Artificial. Meanwhile, WB released a teaser for its supernatural romance Remain, which is a collaboration between Oscar-nominated director M. Night Shyamalan and bestselling author Nicholas Sparks. Both teasers, I must say, were a little underwhelming.
Last night, I watched the upcoming Netflix documentary The Widower, though that remains under embargo until the end of the month, so come back then. Of course, as with most Netflix documentaries, it’s best not to read much about this documentary beforehand, lest you spoil any twists and turns for yourself. I also watched the first four episodes of Season 3 of Nobody Wants This, and Apple’s Neuromancer pilot starring Callum Turner — though again, both remain under embargo.
