Exclusive: Tony Gilroy’s 'Behemoth!' Lands at Searchlight as Broken Lizard's 'Super Troopers 3' Heats Up
Plus, Robert Eggers’ latest supernatural period film, Aaron Pierre’s romantic new movie, Alec Baldwin’s new agency, John Solberg’s exit from FX, and Universal's hot spec script.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope you’re abiding by LA’s strict curfew… LOL.
Last night, I watched the Nick Offerman-Jacob Tremblay movie Sovereign, which offered a thought-provoking look at our troubled country today. Tonight, after Game 3 of the NBA Finals, I’ll either check out the indie thriller Barron’s Cove from writer-director Evan Ari Kelman or the new Titan documentary on Netflix. I haven’t decided which yet.
Meanwhile, last week, an Air Mail piece collected all of the allegations of sexual impropriety against Jared Leto, who stars in Disney’s Tron: Ares and Amazon MGM’s Masters of the Universe movie. I meant to bring up those upcoming movies when the allegations resurfaced, but I didn’t want to seem insensitive to the victims. Well, a few days have passed, and Variety is thankfully “going there,” though you can already see studio insiders downplaying the situation because none of the alleged abuse happened on a film set, and no criminal charges or civil suits have been filed. Sigh…
Tonight, you’ll read what Searchlight Pictures is planning for the future, and my thoughts on the trailer for Tim Story’s new comedy, The Pickup, which stars Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson, and Keke Palmer.
There are also items about Robert Eggers’ latest supernatural period film, Aaron Pierre’s romantic new movie, Alec Baldwin’s new agency, John Solberg’s exit from FX, a couple of Universal sequels, the studio’s new spec purchase, and tributes to the late, great Brian Wilson and Harris Yulin, both of whom passed away in their 80s this week. R.I.P.
